Journey to Inner Peace: The Meaning of Internal Yatra
What does “Internal Yatra” Mean?
You may have come to my site to find some mindfulness resources for yourself or the children in your life, or perhaps you are here because you are supporting me (Thanks friend!) . For any of the reasons you are here, you may be wondering- what does “Internal Yatra” even mean?
In the hustle and bustle and busy-ness of our daily lives, we are often caught up in a quest- for success, for joy, for happiness, for peace or even for adventure. There is a journey, that exists within each and everyone one of us, and it is our unique journey. This is our “Internal Yatra.”
“Internal“
The term “Internal” invites us to turn our gaze inward. It’s about recognizing our inner thoughts, emotions, and our spirit. In a world that fixates on external achievements, the word “internal” makes us look within.
Looking inwards helps us understand who we are within, and who we are striving to be.
“Yatra“
Yatra is a sanskrit word (यात्रा). In Sanskrit, “Yatra” translates to journey and often refers to a spiritual journey, quest or as I like to think ‘an adventure’. Our personal Yatra is a journey to self-discovery and understanding ourselves for who we really are.
So, together, “Internal Yatra” can be understood as our inner journey. It suggests a look within oneself, exploring our mind, body and emotions in a journey to self-discovery, mindfulness and inner-peace.
Nurturing Your Internal Yatra
- Cultivate Mindfulness: Start by infusing mindfulness into your day. Whether it’s through meditation or just being present in the little moments, let awareness be your companion.
- Embrace Imperfections: We are all unique and different from each other. No two of us are the same. Yet we are always striving to be like someone else. Let’s embrace our imperfections and learn to grow from the experiences around us.
- Explore Self-Reflection: Take time for self-reflection. Whether it’s jotting down thoughts, thinking about your day or sharing with a friend, self-reflection is your key to understanding your actions and those around you.
By embarking on our “Internal Yatra”, we can start a transformative journey within ourselves and as a community together. I hope you will join me as we each begin or continue our personal journey to inner peace, inner connection and joint-community.
